The Clibo Privacy Promise

Your clipboard data never leaves your device. Clibo is an offline-first application with zero telemetry collection. We do not collect desktop usage analytics, we do not operate a cloud sync service, we do not send clipboard contents to AI models, and we do not track or view what you copy.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Clibo ("Clibo", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Pawel Borkar. We develop and distribute the Clibo desktop application and operate the website located at https://clibo.app (the "Website").

We believe that your personal data—especially the contents of your clipboard—belongs solely to you. Clibo is engineered from the ground up as a local-first application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you visit our Website, purchase a license, or use the Clibo desktop software (the "Software" or "Application").

By accessing the Website or using Clibo, you acknowledge the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Definitions

  • "Clibo" / "Software" / "Application": The local-first clipboard manager desktop application built with Tauri for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
  • "Clipboard Data": Any text, rich text, code snippets, links, images, file paths, or other information copied to your operating system clipboard and indexed by the Software.
  • "Local Database": The SQLite database stored on your physical device where Clibo persists your clipboard history and user configuration.
  • "Personal Data": Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
  • "Telemetry": Usage metrics, feature analytics, or diagnostic signals. (Note: Clibo does not collect telemetry or usage metrics from the desktop application.)
  • "Website": The public web pages hosted at https://clibo.app.

3. Local-First Architecture & Clipboard Data Handling

The foundational design principle of Clibo is complete local isolation:

  • Zero Server Transmission: Your Clipboard Data is stored exclusively on your local device in a local SQLite database. We do not operate a cloud sync backend, remote backup service, or central clipboard repository.
  • No AI Processing on Clipboard Data: Clibo does not send, stream, or expose your Clipboard Data to any third-party Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, Large Language Models (LLMs), or machine learning APIs.
  • Explicit User Actions Only: Your clipboard contents never leave your device over a network connection unless you explicitly initiate an external action (such as manually exporting a file or sharing a snippet through an external application of your choice).
  • No Account Required: You do not need to register, create a user profile, or provide an email address to use the core features of Clibo on your computer.

4. Information We Collect and Receive

4.1 Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect, store, intercept, or inspect your Clipboard Data.
  • We do not collect desktop application telemetry, feature analytics, or background usage metrics.
  • We do not track your keystrokes outside of configured global shortcut triggers for Clibo.
  • We do not collect sensitive personal identifiers, passwords, or personal credentials copied to your clipboard.

4.2 Desktop Application Telemetry: Zero Collection

We have intentionally decided not to collect telemetry for Clibo. The desktop application contains no telemetry code, analytics instrumentation, or background tracking mechanisms:

  • No Usage Tracking: We do not log or transmit application launches, hotkey activation counts, menu clicks, or feature interaction patterns.
  • No Device Fingerprinting: Clibo does not collect or transmit unique hardware serial numbers, MAC addresses, or device identifiers.
  • Offline-First Operation: The desktop application functions entirely locally on your operating system without making background telemetry network requests.

4.3 Crash Reports and Error Diagnostics (Local Only)

Clibo does not automatically upload, stream, or transmit crash logs or stack traces to our servers:

  • If an unexpected application error or crash occurs, error logs remain stored strictly on your local device.
  • If you request technical support, you may voluntarily choose to copy and email sanitized error logs directly to support@clibo.app to assist with troubleshooting.

4.4 Website Analytics

Our Website uses lightweight, privacy-focused analytics. We do not use intrusive cross-site tracking cookies, fingerprinting scripts, or third-party advertising trackers. We collect only aggregate metrics such as page views, referring websites, and general country-level geography.

4.5 Order and Payment Information

When you purchase a paid license for Clibo:

  • Payments are handled by our trusted Merchant of Record / payment processor (e.g., Lemon Squeezy or Stripe).
  • We receive transaction confirmation details: your email address, billing country, license key generated, and order timestamp.
  • We never see, collect, or store your credit card number, CVV, or bank account credentials.

4.6 Customer Support Communications

If you email us at support@clibo.app, we collect your email address, your name (if provided), and any details you share in your correspondence to assist you with troubleshooting or licensing requests.

8. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

8.1 Local Data Storage

Your clipboard database is stored in your operating system's standard local application support directory. We employ local SQLite standards. You retain full control to clear your history, vacuum the database, or delete all local Clibo files at any time through the Application or your file manager.

8.2 Server Data Retention

  • Order & Licensing Records: Retained for the lifetime of your software license plus standard statutory periods required by applicable tax, commercial, and financial regulations (typically 5–7 years).
  • Support Inquiries: Retained for up to 24 months after the resolution of your ticket to reference prior troubleshooting history, unless earlier deletion is requested.

8.3 Security Safeguards

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the limited personal data we maintain (e.g., TLS encryption for all website communications, restricted access credentials, and reputable infrastructure providers).

9. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal data. We disclose limited data only to trusted service providers who adhere to strict confidentiality and security standards:

  • Payment Processors / Merchant of Record: To process purchases, generate invoices, handle tax collection, and distribute license keys securely.
  • Transactional Email Infrastructure: To deliver license keys, purchase receipts, and customer service responses.
  • Legal Compliance & Protection: If required by a valid court order, law enforcement subpoena, or applicable law, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Clibo, our users, or the public.

10. International Data Transfers

When you visit our Website, purchase a license, or communicate with us, your limited personal data (such as email address and order records) may be transferred to, stored, and processed in servers located outside your country of residence (including in the United States, India, or the European Union).

When transferring personal data internationally from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or reliance on third-party processors certified under applicable data transfer mechanisms.
